CASTING NEWS: KRISTIN KREUK JOINS 'CHUCK'

11:36 AM / Posted by Sheldon / comments (8)

03 September 2009,

From EW.com: If I didn’t know better I’d say Chuck’s got a thing for Superman. On the heels of Brandon Routh’s casting as a love interest for Sarah comes word that Smallville vet Kristin Kreuk is joining Chuck for multiple episodes as Hannah, a girl Chuck meets on a flight to Paris. “Chuck and Hannah definitely have feelings for each other,” teases an insider. Laid off from her glamorous publishing job, Hannah ends up working at the Buy More. This marks Kreuk’s first major TV gig since leaving Smallville. Let me take this opportunity to once again plead with NBC to move up Chuck’s premiere date. Making us wait until March would be cruel, unusual, and punishing. Please. I beg you. I’ll even give that horrible show about nurses another shot.

REPORTS FROM "CHUCK" PANEL AT COMIC-CON 2009!

4:17 PM / Posted by Sheldon / comments (0)

27 July 2009,
BuddyTV.com - Wow! Who knew Comic-Con could bring the rock? Well, that's exactly what the Chuck panel served up to a roomful of very faithful, very dedicated fans. Ballroom 20 was filled to capacity with eager fans ready to find out what was in store for the new season of Chuck. The panel started with a look back at season 2, then showed everybody what happened in creator Josh Schwartz's office "One month later" (though it was obviously just for laughs). The video showed Schwartz telling a now bearded star Zachary Levi that the show will not be picked up. Then the phone rings. It's NBC with the news that Chuck is being picked up for a third season. Levi exits the office to shave and work on his Kung-Fu in excitement to film a new season while Schwartz and co-creator Chris Fedak are left behind disappointed.
"You said we would never get picked up," Fedak said. Schwartz fired back "I don't know, but at least we do have one thing that works" The camera pans to actors Vik Sahay (who plays Lester) and Scott Krinsky (Jeff), who are collectively known as rock 'n' roll cover band Jeffster. As the video ended and the lights came up, Jeffster arrived to performs a cover of Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls." If anybody had just walked into Ballroom 20 at that point probably would have thought they walked into a rock concert. The crowd was on their feet and cheering. The rest of the cast joined Jeffster on stage to cheer them on. I have to say that was a great way to get the crowd going. Jeffster really set the mood and with the entire cast on the panel the mood stayed very positive. I have been coming to Comic-Con for three years, and my "Golden Panel" has always been Supernatural, but I have to say that Chuck came right out of nowhere and snatched that title. I can say that this was the single greatest panel I have ever attended. It was perfectly balanced with comedy, information about the near-cancellation, as well as news regarding the new season. Just about everybody on the cast had the chance to speak, and while Levi did majority of the talking he kept things fresh and funny. The panel was hosted by New Jersey's Star Ledger critic Alan Sepinwall and featured creators Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak, as well as actors Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Joshua Gomez, Adam Baldwin, Sarah Lancaster, Ryan McPartlin, Vik Sahay, Scott Krinsky, and Mark Christopher Lawrence.

MORE PALEY FESTIVAL INFORMATION ON THE 'CHUCK' PANEL!

11:12 PM / Posted by Sheldon / comments (1)

Last night The Paley Center presented the creative team and cast of NBC’s CHUCK as part of their Paley Fest 2008. Kath and I were front and center for the action and it was one hell of a panel. Yesterday was the first day back for the Chuck writing team so they didn’t have a ton of information to spill for the fans but really who cares because it’s all about watching these guys in action (both on the show and in person).

The WGA Strike imposed hiatus has left these kids nutty! Zac Levi (Chuck) and Josh Gomez (Morgan) are seriously in the biggest bromance this side of Make Me a Supermodel’s Ronnie and Prison Ben. They’re frik-n-frak and I’m happy they’ve found each other. God bless the women that dare come between these two. It could get ugly.

Production must be a bear to keep on schedule because its non-stop one-upping between not only Zac and Josh but the majority of the cast. They seem to have created an incredible family and it was fun getting to watch their reunion of sorts.

Production on Chuck Season 2 will begin toward the end of May and they are confirmed for Comic-Con this July where they hope to show a bunch of new clips instead of an entire episode.

Spotters will be spoilt for choice this week as a army of American television stars arrive in Sydney to spruik their shows.

The US writers strike has forced production giant Warner Bros to shift its annual press junket for the small screen's next big hits from Los Angeles - to Sydney.

Ten of the hottest new TV stars, along with journalists from around the world, are flying in for a frantic round of interviews.

Hollywood's loss is Channel Nine's gain, as the shows are all due to be shown on the network this year.

Dropping in will be Thomas Dekker and Summer Glau from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, a small-screen sequel to the hit film Terminator 2.

Lee Pace from Pushing Daisies, Kathryn Morris from Cold Case, Zachary Levi from Chuck and Ed Westwick from Gossip Girl will also be attending.

Jason Lee, from My Name Is Earl, was spotted in Newcastle last week.

Yvonne Strahovski, the Aussie-born star of Chuck, is returning home to Sydney, and will visit her family in between her media commitments.

DIRECTOR McG REVEALS WHAT'S UP WITH CHUCK!

7:20 PM / Posted by Sheldon / comments (0)

As for Chuck, the last two one-hour episodes that aired a couple weeks ago, largely ignored the big bomb revealed during its Christmas episode that the character of Chuck (Zachary Levi), who harbors all the governments secrets in his head (it’s called the Intersect), may soon be terminated because a new intersect is being created. He says that mythology would come back into play, but the last two episodes were designed more to build up the character dynamics, specifically that of Alec Baldwin’s hard-nosed undercover government agent Casey.

"We wanted to get involved in Casey’s back story and what he’s like as a leading man, and we wanted to have some fun there, but also keep the balance of the show and the action-intrigue component but also the fundamental humanity of these nitwits that are over their heads," says McG. "Obviously what Josh Gomez is doing, what Zach Levi is doing, they do a good job bringing the comedic energy and we rely on Baldwin and Yvonne [Strahovski] to bring the physicality and proficiency to a very different world."

And if the writer’s strike is resolved, and the season continues, will this new intersect play a big part? McG says yes.

"That’s the dominant idea that will be serviced in the balance of the season," concludes McG.
