But I don't think intersect is gone permanently because if that psp device can erase the intersect,why didn't Chuck's father use it in the second season.He made a new intersect to erase intersect 1.0.I believe Chuck's mum did this to avoid Chuck flash and fight with Volkoff.But I am not sure when the intersect start working again.
no, the intercect isn't gone.this toy thing that his mom give him he will make him a better and not so emotionally spy.Remember the brown eye scene in the promo,he still have flashes.

The green light under the cars seat looked like the laptop from season 2. What if its an Intersect update, Intersect 3.0
How could they possibly upgrade the intersect any more? Give chuck superpowers?

But honestly, all kidding aside, what could the laptop possibly be?
My opinion, it's a backup hard drive that stores everything previously in the OC.
Stephen obviously knew that the base would eventually fall into the hands of Volkoff or Hydra, or the Triangularum, (before their defeat), so he had to store doubles somewhere. Who better to hndle it than a non-spy who had no idea what it was herself so as not to draw any attention, than Ellie?
btw, somehow someone removed one of my comments, so I'll briefly sum it up.
Mary has nothing to gain by upgrading chuck's mind. The psp probably either switched the intersect off or copied it, in the process making chuck's intersect weaker. More like the one in seasons 1-2, (hopefully).
Volkoff is an arms dealer, so he'll probably use the intersect and sell it on the black market. This can easily be done, as was shown by Mnoosh in Chuck vs. the Nacho Sampler. Since MAry knows about the intersect, why wouldn't Volkoff know? IT makes perfect sense that he would. That's why Mary stole it for him before they blew up the OC. Remember, I don't care whose side you're on in this debate, but Mary IS working with Volkoff, forced or by choice, she is. She stole or copied it. Thats that. Hope Jim can find out whats wrong in the next episode.
btw Timothy Dalton is the PERFECT volkoff. I kinda guessed it when i first heard he'd be on the show, but was thrown WAY off when i saw the promo, and then the episode. His interviews were deceiving as well.
Pretty much, one way or another, the intersect 2.0 as we know it is gone, and I don't see it coming back any time soon.

I still believe that the intersect isn't gone.I think it is only stopped for a short time.That device belongs to Orion.If it deletes the intersect,Orion would use it a long time ago while erasing the intersect from Chuck's head.Also,i will give SPOİLER;Chuck,Sarah,Morgan and Casey will go to a hard mission two episode later,if Chuck can't flash on anything,why would they take him with them?

Ellie will not download the intersect. Plot wise, it makes no sense at all, and besides, Sarah Lancaster is a good actress but she was never all that great at stunts. The laptop is probably just a backup drive as I've previously speculated.
McG originally wanted her to do an action scene somewhere down the road, and I can't remember where I saw this, but she was flustered because she thinks she's terrible at stunt acting. So intersect 3.E? Not happening.
As to the Southeast Asia mission anonymous just posted about, HELLO? anyone remember seasons 1-2? Chuck went with them on their missions all the time without doing much. He just had to "Stay in the Car." Honestly, it seems like after all this, Mom, Volkoff, Governor, Malfunctions, and Shaw stuff that people forgot what Chuck really is. Watch the first two seasons again.
Hopefully we're returning to our favorite "Vintage" Chuck.

WOW! I couldn't even imagine ellie with an intersect! My theory is that the laptop is purely a resource that orion left for chuck to use and create his OWN intersect... or something else?
Here's my theory J, Mama B didn't take the intersect, she switched it off, because now when he tries to flash he just fizzles, so they're trying to reboot it by making him do a life-or-death flash to escape the belgian with the syringe. Makes sense? As much as I want to hear her say "Stay in the Car Chuck!" I doubt we will be hearing that from this event. 100% agree with your Papa B Backup Computer theory =) I'm a rambler too.

Maybe, (to Sam's), the Belgian will be in the dark and not understand what he's torturing Chuck for, and goes after Intersect info in vs. Phase Three.
I think that Sam is COMPLETELY right, but i also believe that the Belgians torture will only half work. He will get the intersect 1.0 powers back.
Yes, of course I remember that he had the intersect 1.0, and that was why he went on missions. I just had a random chuck marathon party at my place 3 days ago. I watched all of them, but most ppl went home or fell asleep after Chuck vs. the Dream Job. YES, it was the pilot thru Chuck vs. the Ring Part II.
I am a REAL chuckaholic.
And those reasons aside, the writers will find some excuse to involve chuck in whatever they want, because he has the name of the show, "CHUCK".

Well, hello everyone I am going to say I enjoy all your theories and I'm just going to post my theories on the device, no matter how far fetched they may seem.
1) What if the upgrade is sort of like that pill from "Chuck VS the tic tac" it may suppress chuck's fear of death allowing him to operate even better
2a) Orion's computer is the primary hardware for the PSP device and it is required for chuck to decipher the flashes.
2b) It allows chuck to let other people see his flashes as well, allow it requires a receiving device (Orions computer)
2b) Chuck's intersect is downloaded into the computer instead so that he can constantly update the intersect with new intel, and then re download again.

I think that the PSP must be some sort of upgrade. Before exposing Chuck, Mary B said "your father did not want you to have this" - therefore it must be an improved or upgraded intersect or most likely a patch to Intersect 2 to update it with the info destroyed by Volkoff - but then what do I know???.

He goes crazy, and they have to put him in an insane asylum, (not like the one in "vs. theTooth"), but like a sponge room.
There's a catch tho. He has a roommate.

Well there are all really good points... and also a very good theory on the singapore thing.
However, I believe chuck's brain was deteriorating because of the abundance of knowledge in his head... and it was beginning to overload.

There is, has been and will always be a developement going on. I loved the first Season Chuck, but only as a step towards the Chuck he is now. Even without the intersect, Chuck is not the Chuck anymore that stays in a car. If you're not able to see the amazing job, the writers have done and really want bad copies of Season 1 Episodes, then maybe that show is too complex for you. Go, watch sitcoms, child
i love chuck the way he is ...i read all the comments above and i do not believe that the thing that made me love chuck was the fact he was clumsy or helpless !!many characters have that !!i loved and love chuck because he was and still is kind funny and innocent in a unique way !!he is still my chuck if you know what i mean !!!so i agree with the statement that there is has been and will always be a development going on !!the show gets better and better in my opinion !keep doing such a great job !!!

We all know this isn't a sitcom, we know that the writer's are fantastic, they have done an incredible job in keeping the humor and talent stable throughout the shows progression. Their spy stories are "AWESOME", and I find myself still rooting for chuck and sarah.

I said that I love Chuck's clumsy,stay in the car behaviors and it can be a good nostalgia if he is like that again for one or two episodes.But I don't say that I always want Chuck that way.I was a little misunderstood.He was cute and sweet in that episodes.But I agree that if we put Chuck with that behavior in all new episodes,he won't fit in and the episodes will repeat themselves.To me,I love new Chuck very much.He is skillful and the series become more exciting and full of adventure.And as I mention before I really believe that intersect isn't gone and I believe Mama B is a good mother and do no harm to Chuck.

it's me again. My direct connection to Chuck is Serienjunkies.org (a german website). Unfortunately it has become worse, but I've found a new method (www.filterskip.com). Hulu, NBC, Youtube etc. don't work here in Europe. Our local TV Stations have Chuck blocked on this sites until the show has aired here.
Unfortunately, Chuck Season 4 won't be on German television before 2012 and even then, they won't show the original version, but a badly dubbed one

I myself, (a bit different then you all), enjoy a might of suspense. I like, nay, LOVE to be held hanging, a huge open ending leaving me gasping for more. I like what they did, And I respect that former president Bush is speaking with Matt Lauer. However, myself being an enormous Chuckaholic, I NEED MY NEW CHUCK! So, having said that, I think NBC should make and online web series based on the Buymore, kinda like season 2, only this one is continuous.
So that way, on a dreadful monday night where there
happens to be no Chuck, NBC could air like, 5 of em to fill the gap left in our hearts and souls, at eight on the web, so we could be content and I could still have my suspense factor.
Why not? It all works out!
