RATINGS UPDATE - SEASON 2 EPISODE 12

7:47 PM / Posted by Sheldon /

The ratings below are for Chuck Season 2 Episode 12: "Chuck Vs. The Third Dimension". These ratings are up almost a million viewers from episode 11, but, they're pretty disappointing considering that 95 million people watched Superbowl the day before.

8:00 p.m. Chuck Viewers: 8.35 million (#4), A18-49: 3.0/ 7 (#4)

To me these ratings are not a disappointment, you have to consider the show was off the air for 6 weeks and it was going up against HOUSE for the first time. Just because 98 Million people watched the superbowl did not mean that they all the sudden were going to tune into CHUCK. I actually was worried that the ratings were going to go down because people were already set in there ways on what they were watching on Monday, concidering the second half of the season already started for the other networks who had a two to three week head start on CHUCK to get the viewers to watch them. So over 8 Million and a 3.0 in the 18-49 bracket was a win to me, and since this is NBC those are good numbers compared to othe NBC shows. Next week will be the real tell on how the show is doing if they can retain most of the viewers without going below 8 Million I would say a safe bet it will be back for a third season.

Gee, here's a possibility --- maybe the problems occurred because NBC marketing is so freaking clueless they were unable to match up the "3D glasses required" to the show?

I live in Los Angeles which, I'd like to think, is ground zero for the entertainment industry. I went to three separate supermarkets, not one of which had these glasses. I've no idea if this was NBC's fault or Pepsi's fault, but it strikes me as a cockup of colossal proportions.

I think that it is a complete shame. Chuck is the best show on television.
It deserves to have a 3rd season regardless of the ratings. Chuck is a show that other shows should look up too.

The 3D scam was lame, but I still enjoyed the show. It's ridiculous to do something like that and then expect everyone to run out and search for 3D glasses, if you were even able to find any I'm sure it probably wasn't even worth it. If they're going to include this show in 3D on the DVD and Blu-Ray release they better include glasses, otherwise do it in standard. But still from what I have heard 3D is more of a gimmick than anything, unless your going to the IMAX Theaters and see it done right.

I'm quite pleased with the ratings, they're going up significantly, now the test is will they stay that way. The Superbowl is a freak ratings spike, for some reason everyone and they're mother watches it even if they don't like football, so it's not fair to attempt to compare Chuck to that. Personally I didn't watch the Superbowl, but I did watch The Office, it would be interesting to see what the rating were for that.
